Autumn Mayco Element
Description
Mayco's E133 Autumn is an orange glaze that breaks into the colors of changing autumn leaves.
Mayco’s Low Fire Elements Glazes were designed to simulate the aesthetic, movement and interest of mid range and hire fire glazes. These glazes fire to cone 06 in an oxidation kiln. The level of variegation exhibited by theses glazes can be influenced by factors such as the number of coats applied, combinations with other glazes, clay body surface textures and kiln atmosphere and temperature. Mayco’s Elements are made of a freely flowing formula, which causes the glaze to move and variegate, both on its own and in combination with other glazes.
Mayco’s Elements are non-toxic. Use of a soft fan brush for application is recommended.
Some Elements may produce pleasing effects when fired to cone 6, though all will produce different colors than is seen at lower temperatures.
Cone 06: Autumn is a glossy, variegated yellowish orange glaze with an orangish brown stain. Semi-Transparent at three coats.
Cone 6: Color changes to a dark brown/red/gold that breaks over texture. Enhanced mobility. Surface issues may occur.
TIP: Will not move with three coats. Will craze with three coats.

Mayco Elements F.A.Q
How do I apply Elements™?
Apply to properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Use a soft fan or glaze brush, depending on the area and surface to be covered. Generally three coats of glaze is recommended; however, applying four coats will produce a totally different look. For a different effect, brush on three coats and apply a final fourth coat using a silk or sea wool sponge. Element Chunkies (EL-200’s) are an Elements base with the addition of crystals. Apply Element Chunkies in the same manner as Element glazes.
How are Elements™ fired?
Fire to shelf cone 06. Allow the pieces ample room in the kiln for air circulation during firing. A heavily loaded kiln will affect the color and the float within colors. Elements may also be fired at higher temperatures, up to shelf cone 6. These glazes develop their own personalities when high fired. Consult Mayco’s High Fire Guide for individual results.
Can Elements™ be Mixed with Other Glazes?
Using Elements with Pottery Coat, Pottery Coat Stucco and Pottery Cascade creates beautiful effects. However, intermixing Elements with other glazes is unpredictable; make test samples first to see if the fired result is the desired effect. Combining them with other products may alter the chemical composition and change their non-toxic status.
