Grass Green Spectrum Cone 5 Glaze 1104
Description
Firing Range: 1160°C-1220°C
Finish: Glossy
Spectrum’s 1104 Grass Green cone 4/6 glaze is a glossy opaque glaze. It creates a unique effect of green breaking into yellow. It is a favorite among school kids!! This glaze will bring out a bright color on white stoneware, while producing a more rustic effect on darker clay bodies.
This is a brush on glaze ready to be applied to bisque fired ware. They are all lead free, non-toxic and dinnerware safe. They are formulated to produce reactions during the firing cycle which give very interesting and beautiful effects. The final appearance of the glaze is dependent on firing temperature, glaze thickness and the composition of the clay body being used. The sample shown has 3 coats of glaze brushed on a white clay and is fired to cone 5 in an electric kiln.
Try overlapping glazes for new and interesting glaze results. Some of Spectrum Glazes are designed to move and shift in the glaze firing resulting in beautifully bright and layered looks.
For best results fire 1200°C with a 30 minute soak on a computerised controller.
Health & Safety
Manufacturers Recommendations: Dinnerware Safe indicates the fired glaze surface meets the FDA standards for food safe, the fired surface is free of surface texture that could potentially trap bacterial, and the fired surface is chemically durable. Please note, dinnerware safety is not defined by cutlery scratches. Finished ware producers bear responsibility for dinnerware safe testing their ware being sold into commerce.
We at Bath Potters will quote the manufacturers recommendations, but if you intend to make ceramic dinnerware with selling in mind, then you would be best advised to get your wares tested.
