Lilac Matte Mayco Stoneware Glaze
Description
Stoneware matte glazes range from solid shades to those that create interesting color variations as they move and break. Application thinkness is the key to making mattes work for you.
1230°C (1st image): Lilac Matte is a semi-opaque matte lilac glaze. The glaze will break over surface textures: the more pronounced the surface texture, the more the glaze will pool around these textures. The glaze will create darker areas where it pools.
1300°C (2nd image): Changes to a translucent gloss.
Tip: Lighter coatings will allow body characteristics to appear through the glaze (especially on dark and speckled clay bodies). Thicker application, three or more coats, will produce a more opaque finish.
Size: 473ml Brush on liquid glaze.
Health & Safety
Manufacturers Recommendations: Dinnerware Safe indicates the fired glaze surface meets the FDA standards for food safe, the fired surface is free of surface texture that could potentially trap bacterial, and the fired surface is chemically durable. Please note, dinnerware safety is not defined by cutlery scratches. Finished ware producers bear responsibility for dinnerware safe testing their ware being sold into commerce.
We at Bath Potters will quote the manufacturers recommendations, but if you intend to make ceramic dinnerware with selling in mind, then you would be best advised to get your wares tested.
