Spectrum Moonlight Metallica Earthenware Brush On Glaze 152
Description
Spectrum is delighted to introduce our new low fire Metallic glazes. Unlike lustres or overglazes, these are regular low-fire glazes and will fire in your kiln with any other low fire glaze. However, while the new Glazes are lead free, they are not non toxic and they are not dinnerware safe. Please do not use them on functional ware.
* These glazes are sensitive to thickness of application. A heavier application will result in increasing the mirror like finish, and decreasing the presence of colour. The perception of colour is also affected by light - incandescent light, fluorescent light, and natural light will all yield different results. We always recommend testing new glazes before you use them on important pieces.
This glaze can be very temperamental. We recommend that all materials and articles are tested before use. All descriptions and specifications given in any written or visual form or verbally are for the purpose of general guidance and no guarantee of any kind is to be implied by such information.
Firing Cone 05
Low fire metalics have to be fired at cone 05 (1040degC) plus or minus about 15-20degC.Cone 06 is too cool and cone 04 is too hot. They have to be put on relatively thick, three generous coats. If you don't do both of these things you probably won't get tthe desired effect. Often you just get a dull black finish or else a shiny ugly green when the glaze is too thin.
