Turquoise Spectrum Raku Glaze
Description
This is a metallic brush-on glaze for use in the Raku firing technique, using an electric or gas kiln.
This glaze is the correct consistency for brush-on application, where 2-3 coats are required, but if thinned slightly with water it will work for pouring or dipping. This glaze matures at 950°c.
The attached sample should only be used as a colour guide, as there are so many factors that affect the outcome of Raku fired pieces.
Lead-free. This glaze cannot be classified as non-toxic in its liquid state, as its copper content is over the threshold limit. Raku fired pieces are not considered food safe. This is due to the fragility of the pieces as the clay will not have reached its full maturing temperature, as well as the possibility of bacteria growth in the cracks made during the Raku firing.
